Har ki Pauri

Har ki Pauri means Footprints of the God. According to mythology it is believed that the footprints of Lord is situated at the Har ki Pauri. This holy Ghat was constructed by King Vikramaditya (1st century BC) in memory of his brother Bhrithari. Bhrithari came to Haridwar and meditated on the banks of the river Ganges. The most holy ghat in Har-ki-Pauri is Brahmakund. Brahma Kund, the place where the Amrit fell.
The evening prayer (Aarti) which is offered to Goddess Ganga at Har-Ki-Pauri is an delightful experience for any tourist. A display of sound and colour is seen when the people float diyas (floral floats with lamps) on the river, Thousands of people from all around the world visit this prayer on their tour to Haridwar. The spiritualness in the air mesmerizes one beyond expression and no matter what religion the people on the ghat belong to, their soul cannot remain untouched by this.

Chandi Devi Temple

This temple is belongs to Goddess Chandi Devi, which is situated on the 'Neel Parvat'. It was constructed in 1929 A.D. by the Shri Suchat Singh King of Kashmir. According to mythology Chanda-Munda, the Army leader of a Demon Kings Shumbh and Nishumbha were killed by goddess Chandi here, It is said that the main statue was established by the Adi Shankracharya in 8th century A.D. This famous temple can be reached by a ropeway or 3 km Trek.

Mansa Devi Temple

The temple of Godess Mansa Devi is situated on the Bilwa Parwat. It is believed that the Goddess Mansa Devi fulfills desires. This is a major tourist attraction. Cable car provides you tremendous view of the entire city.

Maya Devi Temple

Maya Devi is the Adhisthatri deity of Hardwar, The ancient temple of Maya Devi which is established in 11th century is considered as the Siddhipith because it is said that this is the the place where the heart and navel of Goddess Sati had fallen. It is one of few ancient temples in Haridwar, along with Narayani Shila temple and Bhairav Temple.

Daksheswara Mahadev Temple(Kankhal)

The ancient temple of Daksha Mahadev also famous as Daksheswara Mahadev Temple, is located in the Kankhal town. According to mythology, King Daksha Prajapati, father of Sati, Lord Shiva's first wife, performed a yagna, to which he intentionally did not invite Lord Shiva. When he arrived uninvited, he was insulted by the king Daksha, seeing which Sati felt infuriated and self-immolated her self in the yagna kund. That Yagnakund is known as Satikund. King Daksha was later killed by the Virabhadra, born out of Shiva's annoyance. Later the king was brought to life and given a goat's head by Shiva. Daksha Mahadev temple is a tribute to this legend.

Neel Dhara Pakshi Vihar

This Bird Sanctuary is heaven for bird watchers and favorite habitat of many migratory birds in the winter .It is situated on the banks of river Ganga at the Bhimgoda Barrage around 3.5 km away from Haridwar, it is a well known bird watching point .It is a natural habitat of a variety of species of birds, Neel Dhara Pakshi Vihar is an perfect place to observe one of nature’s beautiful creations. It also provides an chance to view the rare Siberian Cranes. It has mesmerizing surrounding ambiance. The Hills of Shivalik is clearly visible from Neel Dhara Pakshi Vihar.

Bhimgoda Tank

Situated at just 500 m from Har ki Pauri. According to indian mythology this tank is built by Bhima, one of the five Pandavas by banging his knee on the ground. There are charming waterfalls and beautyful gardens surrounding the lake.

Doodhadhari Barfani Temple

It is situated in the Doodhadhari Barfani Baba Ashram. There are many temples of different Hindu Gods and Godesses in the complex which is constucted by using white marble. Hanuman Mandir and Ram-Sita Mandir are most beautiful among them. ,It is one of the most beautiful temples in Haridwar.

Pawan Dham

It is situated in haridwar 3km from har ki pauri. It is one of the ancient and well known tourist place of haridwar.This temple is designed by beautyful glass work. Which gives glimpse of the rich Indian culture and tradition.

Bharat Mata Mandir

Bharat Mata Temple is a holy place of The Goddess of India or Mother India is usually illustrated as a female dressed in a saffron-colored sari and holding the flag in one of her hands. This eight-storied temple(180 Feet) was inaugurated by Late Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi. Each floor of the temple has a particular theme,and housing figures of many mythological legends, religious deities, freedom fighters and leaders. It is located in Sapt Sarovar near ashram at Haridwar.

Sapt Rishi Ashram and Sapt Sarovar

Sapt Sarovar means seven streams.It is an ancient ashram famous for having hosted seven sages, Kashyapa, Vashisht, Atri, Vishwamitra, Jamadagi, Bharadwaja and Gautam. It is believed that river Ganga split herself into seven In order to avoid any disturbance to the seven sages meditating in the ashram. The Sapt Rishi Ashram is situated at 5 km from Har-ki-Pauri.

Shantikunj
